COMMON ILKE VINTAGE'S ethos is to showcase quality vintage clothes alongside complementary new products. Well-made garments with a story to tell is what it's all about.
Owner David is about the product. Following a 20 year career working in menswear buying and sourcing roles, David decided to follow his love of vintage and heritage inspired garments and founded COMMON ILKE in 2016. A move to larger premises made the opening of The General Store in the Saddleworth countryside near Manchester and the launch of this website possible. Recently we've been on the move again, back up to the North East of England to be close to family and to the buzzing coastal area of Tynemouth near Newcastle. We opened the store there in the iconic Tynemouth Station on Saturday 5 October 2019.
The concept for the website and store is simple, these are clothes that stand the test of time. They’re all hand-picked by David from a variety of sources and care is taken to get them looking their best, ready for their next owner.
At any one time you may find rare Barbour jackets from the 70s, Woolrich Mackinaw hunting jackets from the 60s, and a large range of vintage military in the collection from WW2 onwards. New stock is sourced regularly and the vast majority is a true one off.
New for our store in Tynemouth is the addition of amazing complementary new brands including Red Wing, Filson, Le Mont St Michel and Sunspel.
Thanks for reading, we hope you like what you see.
