The M-65 field coat was first issued to the U.S. Armed Services in 1965 as a replacement for the M-51 field coat. The M-65 represented the culmination of field coat design, drawing on the technological developments of the M-43 and M-51 field coats used in WWII and Korea. The M-65 also used the covered zipper and snap front closure from the M-51 that allowed soldiers to crawl on their stomachs without the jacket opening and snagging on obstacles.
This is a vintage US Army M-65 jacket, this one is produced by Alpha Industries but we're not sure of the date of production. It is fitted with a heavy duty Scovill brass front zipper with snap-button storm flap, packable hood and velcro throat tab. Made in the USA - this is an iconic field jacket.
Used and in good vintage condition with general signs of wear with marks throughout. There are marks across the jacket, but mainly to the lower front. There is some light fraying to the hems. Freshly laundered and ready for a new owner.
