The M-47 US Army Parka came into fruition after the end of World War II in 1945 and was first patented in 1947, thus giving it the name M-47. Production continued until the mid 1950s before it was replaced with the more modern, better known parkas such as the M51 and the M65. The M-47 takes details from the Mountain Parkas that came before it and is the direct thread that connects the mountain parkas to more modern day parkas we know and love today. This particular parka was US Air Force stock.
