The A-2 deck jacket is an updated version of the N-1 deck jacket, which was developed and introduced by the US Navy in the early 1940s as a durable, warm and functional jacket for seamen working on vessels and ships. This updated version now called the A-2 was first introduced in the 1960s with a dark olive drab to enable camouflaging of USN personnel both at sea and on landing operations.
This is a vintage US Navy First Pattern A-2 deck jacket from the 1960s Vietnam era. Unlike the second pattern predecessor this version doesn’t feature a front chest pocket with squared corners, Instead it has clipped off corners. The internal label has long gone but we can date this jacket to the 60s due to the chest pocket. An iconic American naval jacket made in the USA.
Used and in fair to good vintage condition with general signs of wear, abrasion and discolouration. There are small marks to the upper right chest (as worn) as well as there being a paint mark to the lower back right of the jacket. The zip looks to have been replaced with a Scovill zipper, which is a little stiff but still functions fine. Internally there is some bobbing to the lining around the hem area. Still a cracking jacket with bags of character. Freshly laundered and ready for its new owner.
All our vintage listings unless otherwise stated are true vintage and have been worn before, therefore they will typically show signs of wear, which is all part of the vintage look and appeal.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SIZE: Please DO NOT solely rely on the listed size for your correct fit. Designers often use different measurements for sizes depending on the overall look they desire, so sizes can not only vary brand to brand but also within the same brand. Also, for vintage and pre-worn items the shape may have changed after years of being worn. The best way to ensure your correct fit is to compare the measurements listed to a similar item that fits you well.
