The A-2 deck jacket is an updated version of the N-1 deck jacket, which was developed and introduced by the US Navy in the early 1940s as a durable, warm and functional jacket for seamen working on vessels and ships. This updated version now called the A-2 was first introduced in the 1960s with a dark olive drab to enable camouflaging of USN personnel both at sea and on landing operations.
This is a vintage US Navy A-2 deck jacket from 1981 with a YKK brass front zipper and CON 59 rear stencil - an iconic American naval jacket. Made by Vanderbilt Shirt Co, in the USA.
Used and in good overall vintage condition with general signs of wear, abrasion and discolouration with some small marks. There is a more noticeable dark mark to the collar area and the collar front edge has come away slightly at one side. Freshly laundered and ready for its new owner.

C - SHOULDER - distance between shoulder seams straight across at the back: 20in (51cm)
D - LENGTH - at the centre back from the base of the collar to the hem: 28.5in (72cm)
