Vintage French 'Japanese Boro' Style Patchwork Herringbone Twill Workwear Jacket - S

As its name suggests, the blue worker jacket was originally designed as a utilitarian garment, first worn by railway labourers and engineers in France in the late 1800s. The French name - bleu de travail - literally translates to 'blue work'; this simple functional jacket typically with patch pockets looks great on its own or for layering.
This particular jacket has undergone some beautiful Japanese 'Boro' style repairs, these have been done by the previous owner by hand, and therefore making this jacket a wholly unique piece.
Used and in good vintage condition with signs of wear and abrasion throughout with discoloration that comes naturally with age. The garment has undergone custom hand-made repairs so features mismatched patches through, however this adds to the unique identity to the jacket - where the patchwork has been applied to the button placket it means the bottom button cannot fasten. There is also some sun fading across the garment, with a few small holes and nicks to the fabric throughout. Freshly steamed and ready for a new owner.
