This M47 US Army Parka came into fruition after the end of World War II in 1945 and was first patented in 1947 thus giving it the name M47. Production continued until the mid 1950s before it was replaced with the more modern and better known parkas such as the M51 and the M65.
The M47 was used by the US Army and the Air Force and the parka itself takes details from the Mountain Parkas that came before it. The parka features exposed buttons and upper chest hand warmer pockets and an elongated silhouette. This parka is the direct thread that connects the mountain parkas to more modern day fishtail parkas we know and love today.
Used and in good overall vintage condition with general signs of wear, abrasion and discolouration. The jacket does not come with a detachable pile liner. There is a small hole to the lower left hem of the jacket and a tiny hole under the left armpit. Not quite perfect but still a great and rare bit of kit in cracking condition considering the parka is circa 70-80 years old. Steamed and ready for a new owner.
All our vintage listings unless otherwise stated are true vintage and have been worn before, therefore they will typically show signs of wear, which is all part of the vintage look and appeal.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SIZE: Please DO NOT solely rely on the listed size for your correct fit. Designers often use different measurements for sizes depending on the overall look they desire, so sizes can not only vary brand to brand but also within the same brand. Also, for vintage and pre-worn items the shape may have changed after years of being worn. The best way to ensure your correct fit is to compare the measurements listed to a similar item that fits you well.
