The M47 US Army Parka came into fruition after the end of World War II in 1945 and was first patented in 1947 thus giving it the name M47. Production continued until the mid 1950s before it was replaced with the more modern and better known parkas such as the M51 and the M65.
The M47 was used by the US Army and the Air Force and the parka itself takes details from the Mountain Parkas that came before it. This particular one was Air Force stock. The parka features exposed buttons and upper chest hand warmer pockets and an elongated silhouette. This parka is the direct thread that connects the mountain parkas to more modern day parkas we know and love today.
Used and in very good vintage condition with general signs of wear, abrasion and discolouration. The jacket does not come with a detachable pile liner, both cuffs have been shortened and fraying to the lower hem. There is also a large amount of discolouration to the lower back of the jacket. Not quite perfect but still a great and rare bit of kit in cracking condition considering its age. Freshly laundered and ready for a new owner.
All our vintage listings unless otherwise stated are true vintage and have been worn before, therefore they will typically show signs of wear, which is all part of the vintage look and appeal.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SIZE: Please DO NOT solely rely on the listed size for your correct fit. Designers often use different measurements for sizes depending on the overall look they desire, so sizes can not only vary brand to brand but also within the same brand. Also, for vintage and pre-worn items the shape may have changed after years of being worn. The best way to ensure your correct fit is to compare the measurements listed to a similar item that fits you well.
