Vintage US Military 1950s Korean War Era Mackinaw Jeep Coat Third Pattern SRegular price £245.00 GBP
This 1950s era Mackinaw Jeep Coat was issued initially in 1938, intended for cold weather use by troops who did not engage in much movement, such as drivers.
This third pattern jeep coat can be visually distinguished from its predecessors because it has no belt and the once rounded collar was replaced by a notched collar. The shell is olive-drab coloured cotton poplin and the chest and shoulder widths were enlarged to permit it to be worn over layers of other clothing. The development of the superior M-1943 Field Jacket caused the third pattern Mackinaw to be a limited standard item that was dropped when supplies were exhausted.
Used and in good vintage condition considering the age, with general signs of wear, abrasion, discolouration and marks. There is some fraying to both cuffs as well as there being marks to the front of the jacket. The back right arm (as worn) has a stitch repair as well as there also being some small holes to the back internal lining. Not quite perfect but still an amazing jacket that has stood the test of time. Steamed and ready for a new owner.
All my vintage listings unless otherwise stated are true vintage and have been worn before, therefore they will typically show signs of wear and will not smell like new, which is all part of the vintage look and appeal.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR SIZE: Please DO NOT solely rely on the listed size for your correct fit. Designers often use different measurements for sizes depending on the overall look they desire, so sizes can not only vary brand to brand but also within the same brand. Also, for vintage and pre-worn items the shape may have changed after years of being worn. The best way to ensure your correct fit is to compare the measurements listed to a similar item that fits you well.
EXTERNAL MEASUREMENTS: Please check against a similar garment of your own that fits you well, measuring flat and fully zipped or buttoned up (if applicable) on a flat surface:
